EEDA's international strategy builds on the priorities set out in the regional economic strategy (RES) - specifically to increase the level of foreign investment and international trade to boost the region's economy and to engage effectively with international issues and ensure the continued competitiveness of the region.
EEDA was responsible for the delivery of a wide range of European funding programmes and promoting regional engagement in others. This role allowed us to build on the priorities set out in the regional economic strategy (RES) and work closely with key regional, national and European partners.

Please note that:
- responsibility for the delivery of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) transferred to the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) from 1 July 2011;
- responsibility for the delivery of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) transferred to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) from 1 July 2011.
