Alignment of Regional Growth Fund Round 2 and ERDF Bidding Rounds

12 April 2011

The Government has today (12 April) launched round two of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF2).  The Regional Growth Fund is a £1.4 billon fund which is designed to encourage enterprise, growth and jobs in the private sector and support regions that are dependent on the public sector and is a potential source of match funding for ERDF projects. In common with other Regional Development Agencies we have aligned the RGF2 application process with our ERDF processes to coordinate the assessment and appraisal of bids seeking support from both funds. The deadline for RGF2 applications is 1 July 2011.

Currently East of England ERDF Programme Open Bidding Round 14 is open for the submission of Project Concepts.  The closing date for this bidding round will be Friday 29 April 2011.  Click here for more information on ERDF bidding round 14.

In addition, bidding round 15 will be launched earlier than planned in May 2011 with a closing date for receipt of Project Concepts of Friday 29 July 2011. The opportunity exists in both bidding rounds to align proposals for RGF2 and project concepts submitted in the East of England ERDF Competitiveness Programme.

Projects will need to satisfy the relevant criteria for both RGF2 and ERDF.  It is important to note however that RGF2 is inviting applications for programmes of activity as well as for individual projects. ERDF cannot be used to support programmes of activity as defined in the RGF2 guidance but RGF2 programmes can identify individual project proposals to be co-funded by ERDF and RGF2.

Ther ERDF team will be happy to discuss any proposals for joint RGF-ERDF funded projects and to advise on ERDF eligibility and contract requirements. Click here for contact details.
