A skills strategy for the region
EEDA was asked by BIS to lead development of a regional skills strategy over the period January to October 2010.
The strategy was delivered to BIS in September 2010. Regional skills priority statements are no longer part of skills policy and are not being updated. The documents here represent a collective view of the East of England's view of skills priorities as of September 2010 and may continue to be of interest to partners for the time being.
The starting point for the Skills Priorities Statement was collating the evidence from the Regional Economic Statement and the recently completed Implementation Plan.
The Skills Priority Statement has also been informed by the UKCES Skills for Jobs: Today and Tomorrow - The National Strategic Skills Audit and the National Employer Skills Survey, the local Skills Priority Statements submitted by local authority partnerships and through the formal consultative process.
It is hoped that the Skills Priorities Statement and the component evidence will aid the future skills plans of any new Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) that may be formed in the East of England and the EEDA team will continue to support partners throughout the transition.
Draft Skills Priorities Statement 2011/12 now available
The first full draft of the Skills Priorities Statement has gone to BIS for their comments. A copy of which you can find below.
The final version of this Skills Priorities Statement will be submitted to BIS by the end of September 2010 and posted on this webpage.
The consultation has now ended and EEDA would like to thank everyone who has responded to it over the last three months.
