Alison Webster

Executive director, external directorate

Alison Webster joined EEDA in 2007 and is now executive director, external directorate.

Alison has worked in the region for over ten years. Alison’s previous positions include the executive director of the Essex Learning and Skills Council, one of the largest and most complex of the 47 local Learning and Skills Councils. Alison has also been chief executive of the Essex Careers & Business Partnership. Under her leadership Essex Careers & Business Partnership became the only careers company to achieve the Chartermark (twice), Investors in People and ISO 9001.

Before moving to the region Alison worked in London. During this time Alison set up the privatised careers company Capital Careers and was part of the team which set up and ran the Education Authority for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea from 1989-1996. In her early career, Alison was a retail manager for Marks & Spencer, having joined as a graduate trainee.
